• The Cashmere High School Wall of Fame committee and the class of 2022 are excited to announce this
year’s inductee as Dale Jones 1969 graduate of Cashmere High School.

As Dale graduated from Cashmere, he received the school’s Weller-Hawker award, for Cashmere Finest
Athlete. He continued his education at Wenatchee Valley College where he earned his AA degree. Dale
then followed his educational path to Central Washington University and graduated with his Bachelors
of Arts in Education and then his Master’s in Education from Central Washington University also. Later
he sought out his 2nd Master’s degree in Counseling Education from Whitworth College.

Dale taught in many places, but Cashmere was his longest stint, at 22 years at the end of his career. He
taught in Waterville, Eastmont, back to Waterville, and Ephrata, before coming home to Cashmere.
While teaching, he coached Wrestling for 12 years, Track for 35 years, and an astounding 43 years
coaching football and is currently still volunteer coaching football at Cashmere Middle School. He has
also served for the past 31 years as meet director for the Cashmere’s Junior Olympics.

One of Dale’s most impressive talents is as an official. He has served as a track official at many levels.
He is currently, and has been for the past 31 years, the head umpire at the State A Track Meet. He has
been an Official at the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996, the Goodwill Games in Seattle in 1990, and the
US Senior Games in Spokane Washington and Salem Oregon.

One of his many jobs over the years has been a carnival worker. He says this is where “real” education
comes from. He retired from teaching in 2012, and continues to run his family’s pear orchard in East
    Cashmere.

Dale served as a counselor at Cashmere Middle School for 22 years and was best known for his crazy
antics and fabulous fund raisers. The Valentine Cookie Sale, all kinds of spirit contests involving SPAM,
activity nights, donut sales, spirit club, and pep assemblies that are memorable still. He was perfect for
middle school as counselor, head cheerleader, advocate for students, and dear friend to his fellow
teachers. Dale is married to Carrie Jones. They make their home here in Cashmere and they are both
proud retired employees of Cashmere Middle School.

The class of 2022 is honored to welcome Dale Jones to the Cashmere High School Wall of Fame. Thank
you for your service Mr Jones.
