• Beve Spears

    Beve Thomas Spears grew up in Cashmere and graduated from Cashmere High School in 1938. His fondest memories were playing football for the bulldogs under legendary coach and “Wall of Fame” member Ralph “Pete” Peterson, and beating the Wenatchee Panthers on the gridiron in both his junior and senior years.

    In 1940, Beve married Viola Horey (Class of 1938). Together, they raised two children, Tom and Linda, who also grew up and graduated from Cashmere. BEve and Vi were happily married for sixty-four, years quietly donating much of their time and money to the people and community of Cashmere. Beve served during WWII from 1942-1945 as a Carpenter’s Mate in the U.S. Navy. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to his family in Cashmere and continued work in the family business, T.J. Spears Construction, with his father. He took over the business in 1952 and continued operating it as B.T. Spears Construction; he retired in 1983 and turned the business over to his son, Tom, who continues the legacy as T.W. Spears Construction. Spears Construciton operated in the valley as a family-owned and operated business of Cashmere for over seventy years.

    As a member of the community, Beve was a leader and played and played an integral part in attracting new businesses to Cashmere. He served on the Cashmere City Council and later served as Mayor of Cashmere. He served on the Cashmere City Council and later served as Mayor of Cashmere. He also served many times as a Rainbow Dad. He was on the Board of Directors for Cashmere Valley Bank, and for sixty-one years he was an active member of the Cashmere American Legion Post #64.

    Beve Spears serves as a role model for all graduates of Cashmere High School.
