Current Career: Project Engineer – Andersen Construction   July ’16 – Present Full time.

As a project engineer my responsibilities include reviewing, analyzing and resolving field construction problems, discrepancies or interference's. I provide administration of the following at the jobsite: Submittal/procurement process, RFI's (Request for Information), document control, field cost control, and change orders. We must be able to develop and maintain schedule with input from Project Manager and Superintendent.

Education: Washington State University – Bachelor Degree Construction Management, August ’11 – May ‘16

I graduated WSU in May 2016 I went with the idea of going into the Construction Management program. I was heavily involved with the program. I held leadership positions in the Design-Build Institute of America Student chapter where I was the events coordinator, Vice-President and President also was the Web-master for the Associated Students of Construction Management. I also participated in the Associated Schools of Construction Competition located in Sparks Nevada. While doing, this I was on two teams that took 3rd place and 2nd place up against 16 other schools each year. I would say this was my proudest moment since High school.

Jobs: While I was at WSU I got an internship with Andersen. I interned with Andersen for two summers and was offered a full-time position. These two summers gave me the insight and the tools to be able to be successful in school as well as in my career.

I also work as a hotel maintenance engineer. This helped me gain perspective on how things are put together and opened my mind to the field side of things even in a small scale.

Future Career Plans: My career plans are to keep on track and become a Project Manager and to work my way up the food chain. I enjoy the company and the people that I work for and with.

Advice: For those who decide to go to college, I would say make sure that you get involved with anything and/or everything college. College is the best 6 years of your life – Simo. Might as well get everything you possibly can out of it. Work hard, Play hard, Learn lots and Enj
