Matt Taylor, Class of 2010

Currently live and work in San Francisco, CA
Account Executive, Sales at Square
Account Manager, Account Management at Square
Marketing Analyst, Marketing at Square
I have worked at Square since I graduated college in 2014. I worked for 8 months on the Sales team. For the next year and a half I worked on Square’s Account Management team. In the Fall of 2016, I became a Marketing Analyst for Square’s food delivery app called Caviar.
As a Marketing Analyst, my responsibilities include:
· Analyzing and gathering data from our marketing channels in order to make our marketing campaigns more effective
· Working with our local market leads to better understand marketing data in order to figure out when/where to spend their budget
· Managing the end-to-end launch process for all Caviar email, in-app, and social campaigns
Future Career Plans
I have really enjoyed working for Square and I plan to stay on the Marketing team in the short-term. However, it is grown to be a large company over the past few years and I would like to join a small startup relatively soon. Working for a startup would be a great learning experience and provide new, interesting challenges. I would want to continue in marketing role for whatever new company I decide to join though.
Proudest moment since high school
I would say my proudest moment since high school was when I graduated from college. Graduation from Claremont McKenna was the culmination of many stressful hours studying and taking tests. It was challenging to major in both Philosophy and Economics, but the experience helped me grow academically and personally.
Advice for high school students
My advice to current high school students is to go to college, even if you have no idea what you want to pursue professionally. College is a great place to figure that out! You will get exposed to many different subjects and industries, which is the best way to figure out what you want to do in your future career.
