Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Christine Benita
I wear several teaching hats this year, but all revolve around my passion of life-long learning. I teach 7th and 8th grade STEM and a semester course of Technology. Technology is a new elective offered this year and I am excited to develop this course with my students.
My family and I are fulfilling a long-held desire to move to the valley. I am originally from Houston where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Masters in Science Education from the University of Houston. Wanting to be closer to outdoor recreation opportunities, we moved to Seattle where I taught 5th grade Math and Science, served as the E-STEM program manager for a newly created K-8 school in which I also taught Environmental Studies in the middle school, and capped my Seattle career by serving as an elementary science curriculum specialist for the Seattle School District. I am an amateur naturalist, enjoy hiking, biking, and snowshoeing. Understanding how the world works and its interdependent relationships are things I totally geek out on and marvel about each day.
