Mr. Kent Chalmers

Kent Chalmers grew up in the small Northeastern town of  Kettle Falls and began playing the trumpet in 5thgrade.  In high school, he started playing with the local community orchestra and brass quintet and decided to pursue a career in music.  He attended the University of idaho where he studied with trumpet teacher Bob McCurdy, and received a degree in music education.  In 2003 Kent started working as the band director at Cashmere Middle and High School where currently works with over 200 students between 5th and 12th grade.  In 2007 he received a masters’ degree in band conducting from the ABC college at Southern Oregon University. Kent also plays lead trumpet in the Wenatchee Big Band, principal trumpet in the Wenatchee Valley Symphony, and has been a featured soloist with the Spokane British Brass Band.  During the summer he and his wife play with the Lake Chelan Bach Fest orchestra.  Kent is married to Annie Chalmers who plays French Horn and is also a music teacher.  They currently live in Cashmere with their daughter Brooke and their son Oliver.
