You must sign up in the Career Center before the day of the visit.

*******Apply for Federal Financial Aid for college.  File online.  Don’t procrastinate.  www.fafsa.ed.gov    

Please be aware that paper FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) are no longer being mailed to schools by the Department of Education.  You may call 1-800-433-3243 to request a paper application or go to www.edpubs.org.   You may also apply online by going to www.fafsa.ed.gov.  You may pick up a FAFSA worksheet (in English and Spanish) at Cashmere High School but the final application must be filed online.

I think you will find it very informative.   You have the opportunity to sign up for a $1000.00 scholarship.  Deadlines for the scholarships are:  12/31/07  3/31/08   6/30/08

 

www.SchoolSoup.com  has a large database of scholarships available.  Students answer some questions and are immediately presented with hundreds of scholarships.  It’s free and updated daily.

www.MeritAid.com  This site helps students find merit-based scholarships (those based primarily on grades) offered at particular colleges. It’s an excellent site for students looking at particular schools to see what types of merit scholarships are available for them to apply for.

5/6/09 (Wednesday)  The 5th Annual Latino Parent/Student Educational Conference Promoting Education and Leadership.  Bilingual informational sessions. All colleges offer scholarships.  Please check online for the college(s) you are interested in to see what is offered and their deadlines.

Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) $180,000 Scholarship Opportunity.

International Air and Hospitality Academy Scholarship.  For Airline/Travel Specialist, Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts.  Must show proof of enrollment to qualify.  Deadline:  5/8/09

Numerica Credit Union Muriel Wenzek Scholarship.  Must have 2.0↑GPA and pursue a degree or be enrolled in a vocational program as a full time student.  Also must be a member of NCU or be a dependent of a NCU member.  Deadline:  5/9/09

Cashmere Education Association Scholarship.  Must be graduating senior and a child of CEA member and must have attended CHS for at least the last two years.  2.8↑.  Based on academic qualifications, interests and such personal qualities as character and leadership ability, participation in school extra-curricular, civic and employment activities.   Deadline:  5/11/09

 

 

 

Cashmere Support Personnel Scholarship.  Must be a graduating senior, having attended CHS for the last two years, and be a son/daughter of a Cashmere Support Personnel Member.  Must have a 2.8↑GPA.

Deadline:  5/12/09

Mission Creek Community Club Scholarship.  Must be graduating senior of CHS with a 2.5↑GPA and plan to attend a post graduate school.  Selection will be made on service to school, church and/or community.  Preference will be given to the immediate family of Mission Creek Community Club.  Need will also be considered.   Deadline:  5/12/09

Scholarship4you.com Scholarship.  Must be a U.S. Citizen or a Legal Permanent resident and a graduating senior planning to attend an accredited college/university in the United States. 

Register for the drawing at www.scholarship4you.com.  Deadline:  5/15/09

Spanjer Vocational Scholarship.  Open to any CHS student who plans to attend a vocational/trade school or who plans to enroll in a community college vocational curriculum.  Deadline:  5/15/09

Leavenworth Golf Club Scholarship.  Must be Junior member of the club or have parents/grandparents who are members.  Deadline:  5/15/09

BIAW (Building Industry Association of Washington).  May be used to fund almost any post-secondary education (college/vocational/public or private).  Judged according to the following criteria:  20% Academic Record, 20% Work Experience, 15% Community Service/School Activities, 15% Recommendations, 15% Financial Need, 15% Essay.  Deadline 5/19/09

Delta Upsilon, Washington Chapter, Scholarship.  Must be male attending the University of Washington 2009-10 academic school year.  Based on personal merit as well as academic qualification.  You do not need to join Delta Upsilon Fraternity to be considered for this scholarship.  Deadline:  5/22/09

Dan’s Food Market Scholarship.  Must be graduating senior from CHS.  Based on academic s and need. 

Deadline:  5/22/09

Bev and Wes Stock Scholarship (Seattle Mariners Women’s Club).  Presented to a graduating high school senior in WA who is planning to pursue an athletic-related career and will be attending college/university in the Fall.  Based on merit (curriculum, GPA and Community Service).

No application but must submit a typewritten essay, transcript and three letters of recommendation.

Careers That Work Scholarship.  $1000 scholarship to specific career schools.  Go to www.nwcareercolleges.org for a list of participating colleges and online application.   Deadline:  6/1/09

Chelan/Douglas County Farm Bureau Scholarship.  Must be child/legal dependant of a current Chelan/Douglas Farm Bureau member family.  Must be accepted/enrolled in an accredited college/vocational school in a field of agriculture, food science, food marketing, leadership training in Ag, journalism as it relates to Ag and/or other related fields.  Deadline:  6/1/09

Abbot and Fenner Scholarship.  Must write essay on one of two posted topics.  For more information

Signa Phi Epsilon Balanced Man Scholarship.  Must be incoming freshman male at Washington State University.  A successful applicant has an active lifestyle, participates in team sports or individual physical activities, excels in the classroom and participates in extracurricular activities.  Applying for the Balanced Man Scholarship in no way obligates you to join Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity.

Big Sun Scholarship.  Must be a high school senior involved in a sport.  All student athletes are eligible, regardless of which sport they are participating in. for application and more information http://www.bigsunathletics.com       Deadline:  6/27/08

NCHBA (North Central Home Builders Association) Scholarship.  Must be Chelan, Douglas, Okanogan County resident, graduating senior, applying to an accredited vocational, two-year community or four-year college/university.  Must pursue a degree that benefits the building trades.  Focuses on school and community participation and is not directed solely toward academic performance. 

AES Engineering Scholarship. You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible. 

Must submit an essay of no more than 1000 words in answer to one of the following questions.

  1.  Explain the importance of your current studies in today’s society.  2.  There is a general agreement that our economy is in trouble.  In general terms, how much responsibility should be shouldered by the average citizen?
